Hello to all our book reading friends.
Prize season has begun! In June we’ve got our fingers crossed for success in the Ignite Wanaka Awards, where we are a finalist in the Young Enterprise category. We’re also hoping we can count on all our readers, followers and supporters to vote for us in the People’s Choice category of the awards. Please tell the world how much you love us by voting for us on the Wanaka App. Simply use the button on the home page and follow the instructions. Thank you.
Jenny Ainge has “hopped'' over to Sydney to visit some of the inspiring bookshops such as Bookoccino in Avalon, the elegant Potts Point Bookshop, and the much loved inner-city institution: Better Read than Dead. Next weekend Sally heads away to the Northern Hemisphere and will be scoping out an exciting new venture for our bookshop - literary tours and writing workshops. We will keep you posted.
On the weekend of the 18th and 19th of June Penny Rogers from Rustication will be exhibiting her beautiful rugs from “interesting” places at Cinema Paradiso lounge. The Next Chapter has been invited to join in and show books on the theme of the "home" of exotic rugs: The Mediterranean, Turkey, and the Middle East. See some of the titles in our photo.
Other news on local retailers supporting each other - what a pleasure it was to host the May special event - Chocolate Tasting and Treats with Tanja Schwindt, presented by the Next Chapter's Caroline Harker. This was such a success we think we would like to make local food, drink and designers a theme for a special event every May.
