Hello to all our book reading friends:
A sprinkling of snow on the mountains and all the excitement of the Festival of Colour has made our lakeside town a buzzing place. People everywhere: chatting, laughing, and basking in the autumn sun. How we love a celebration of the arts - the lively discussions, the wonderful food and wine, and how the talk and ideas all flow. Books, authors and readers are all part of this lively mix and we are so proud to have our local authors among the shop’s best sellers: Sam Neill"s: Did I Ever Tell You This, Jessica Howland Kany's: A Runner's Guide to Rakiura , Ruth Shaw's: The Bookseller at the End of the World and maybe we can also count Catherine Chidgey (The Axeman's Carnival) as a temporary local, while she is here in April for the Autumn Art School as a Writing Tutor.
Not long now until Easter Celebrations. The first on our calendar is this weekend at the Domaine -Thomson Cellar Door near Cromwell. Sunday, 2nd April from 2-6 pm. There will be an Easter food theme with chocolate making, Easter eggs and hot cross buns. We will be there with books relevant to the beautiful setting and the elegant surroundings. Wine and Food, Architecture and Interiors and Travel books amongst the titles.
A few staff changes to note. We have bade a fond farewell to Rachel Silcock who has returned to Britain to start her post-grad studies. Now joining the team will be Esther Water - our much-valued discussion leader of the Non Fiction Book club. Welcome to the shop team Esther! Also, Alex Walton, our lovely librarian from Lake Hawea library and an occasional bookseller. Alex is to be back in the shop every Tuesday throughout April. Come and talk to her about children's fiction.
