- In Killers of the Flower Moon, David Grann revisits a shocking series of crimes in which dozens of people were murdered in cold blood. -
Killers of the Flower Moon is an absolutely fascinating and heartbreaking read. Set predominantly in the 1920's, we follow those involved in investigating the Osage murders; a series of seemingly unrelated killings, that were befalling the Osage Indians, after it was discovered their land was rich with oil.
It was really interesting to read what life was like for both detectives and criminals, before all the technology that we have today was invented, and how easy it was for criminals to get away with crimes and how hard it was for detectives and the law to investigate crimes sufficiently, and get them solved.
There was so much corruption surrounding the Osage murders, and credit goes out to those who stood up for and fought for what was right. The lead detective, Tom White, was an extraordinary man.
There are familiar faces, as you read about the Bureau leading the investigation, that not long after this case, became the FBI, as well as mentions of unknown men who did their best and deserve to be remembered for their hard work.
Killer of the Flower Moon is such a riveting and powerful read. It is written with truth and extensive research. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fast-paced and interesting read, based on true crime.
