Hello Readers,
Time to celebrate folks - Daylight Saving is here, the kids are on holiday and we can all relax a bit - winter is almost over. Bring a coffee from across the road and join us for our children's story time and a chance to browse the books in the children’s section. We also have our traditional school holiday book sale for ages 0 - 16, with lots of titles to choose from.
As we head into summer and making plans for tramping and mountaineering trips why not pop in and look at the new arrivals in Mountaineering/Outdoors titles. We bring many of these in from Britain and we are regularly congratulated for our collection.
Here are some popular titles for you to try: The Last Blue Mountain - the Last Blue Karkoram Climbing Tragedy. And for a locally published title - David Vass’s Not Set in Stone from Potter and Burton. It is a joy to report on Dave's writing success, as he was one of our earliest bookshop supporters back in 2020. Now he is one of our Best Sellers in this category.
Jumping back to the UK - we do follow the British prize winners in non-fiction carefully. Of particular note is the longlist for the Baillie Gifford Prize and one of the interesting titles we carry: Ultra-Processed People: Why Do We All Eat Stuff that isn’t Food … and Why Can’t we Stop ? this book comes highly recommend by a member of our Non Fiction Book Club and more stock is on its way. Here is the full longlist for non fiction.
And finally, if you're heading out of town, don’t forget the wonderful Dunedin Writers & Readers Festival 13th - 15th October.
