Are you looking for your next exciting crime series? I suggest you check out The Blues Quartet series by Ray Celestin.
It begins with The Axeman's Jazz, set in 1919 New Orleans and based on the true story of a serial killer who plagued the city. Detective Talbot, former Detective D'Andrea, and secretary Ida are all trying to unmask the killer.
What follows is a thrilling chase across New Orleans as a spring storm brews, and the serial killer issues a challenge to residents of New Orleans - play jazz, or risk becoming the next victim. I was completely invested in all the characters, their personal stories, and their investigations.
Each book in this quartet is set around a different city, season, and era. The Dead Man's Blues takes us to 1920s Chicago summer, The Mobsters Lament to autumn in New York during the 1940s, and the final in the series is Sunset Swing - wintery Los Angeles during the 1960s.
Ray Celestin is a brilliant, award-winning author who masterfully blends fact and fiction throughout this series. You will find yourself easily transported to these cities and eagerly turning the pages to see what will happen next.
I cannot recommend this series enough.
Enjoy!
